Did you know that there is a tax regime in Portugal where anyone can chose to send 0.5% of the tax they pay to an institute of their choice? The Greater Lisbon Chaplaincy is a worthy cause. IT COSTS YOU NOTHING!!!! Please help if you Pay Tax in Portugal.
Here is a letter that Hey Portugal recieved from the church council asking for your help. It costs you nothing but will help them considerably. Anyone from the UK might be aware of the tax scheme for 'gifting' your tax to charities - it is also applicable here.
If you complete Portuguese tax returns then you need to read this, and with your good will the Anglican church in Lisbon will carry on for many years to come.
Dear Church Supporter,
Your help is needed
You probably already know that our Chaplaincy is not raising enough income to cover its expenditure, which is unsustainable in the medium/long term. The very continued existence of Church of England worship in this place (after some 350 years) is threatened.
There is one thing that you may be able to do to help the Church and Cemetery finances at no cost to yourself.
The Portuguese law of religious liberty permits taxpayers to direct 0.5% of their tax assessment to our Church. You pay the same tax, but the state receives only 99.5% of your bill.
The procedure is to complete “Anexo H, section 9 – Consignação de 0.5% do imposto liquidado” of the income tax return. Place an X in the box “Instituições Religiosas, art 32º n.º 4” and complete box 901 with the Church identity number 592005542.
The option to indicate the Church as beneficiary is open to any taxpayer in Portugal, whether a regular or occasional member of our congregations, or simply a well-wisher. Please review your email address list and forward this message to everyone that you think may favour our cause at no cost to themselves.
