Dutch people rejected "the wrong kind of populism", Prime Minister Mark Rutte has said, as he celebrated victory in Wednesday's election. "The Netherlands said 'Whoa!'" he declared after his centre-right VVD party's lead positioned him for a third successive term as prime minister.With nearly all votes counted, his party easily beat the anti-immigration Freedom party of Geert Wilders. The Queen has granted royal assent to the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill, giving prime Minister Theresa May the legal power to choose when to start formal Brexit talks. Mrs May has said this will happen before the end of March. ITV News
The Nurses Union have called for a 40-hour strike for the last two days of March. Nurses are demanding a return to a 35-hour working week, in line with other public sector employees, and the ‘settling’ of over 700,000 hours of overtime that remains unpaid. Portugal Resident
