World's oldest crocodile eggs discovered in Portugal. The coastal area around Lourinha is famous in Archeology circles as being one the best loctions in the world for finding dinosaur remains. Lourinha is reputed to have one of the largest collections of fossils in the world and if you visit the town museum, apart from finding the typical historical artifacts of the area relating the way the people lived in recent times, there is also a dinosaur room which is quite a surprise as you wander through the museum. Now the latest finds are 152 million-year-old crocodile eggs. BBC
A small London-based fund may cause and upset in the sale of Novo Banco ( the company spawned from the collapse of BES) . Atheal Ltd made an offer of EUR3.8billion for the bank. Aethel is trying to rally a consortium of Banco Espírito Santo bondholders, who are suing Banco de Portugal for the transfer of New Bank bonds to the "bad bank," where the likelihood of them being paid is much lower. The Drop In Centre in Obidos with the community shop is opening soon. Situated in the old BES bank it will open its doors on the 1st of May 2017. Hazel Knight and Joy Bradley are going to manage the Drop In Centre with support from many others. The Drop In Centre will be an Information Centre for New People coming to live on the Silver Coast. Areas of support will be ; how to make doctors appointment, getting children into school, car registration, bus services, etc etc. The grand opening will be on the 1st of May and we will keep you updated through our Facebook page. Much of this information is available on our website but this is an important project where you can go and discuss your issues and problems or just drop in for a coffee or a chat. If you want to be involved and have some spare time to offer, contact the project leaders or drop us a line and we will pass on your details.
