What's New on HeyPortugal
Changing to 2 weekly - you might have noticed that we don't always get the newsletter out on time. We try our best but sometime are just too busy so in order to get it back on a regular basis we are switching to 2 weekly. Any news that is urgent or just can;t wait will be posted on our Facebook page - Hey Portugal Magazine. We have now reached over 2500 likes on the facebook page so we know a lot of you are getting the news. We also run a group on facebook - Viva na Costa da Prata, people post things that are going on in the area and general information and chats. You can also advertise Classified items for sale on there for free.
Don't forget the Book Exchange at our office in Caldas da Rainha. We will be getting a second bookshelf soon as our book collection is expanding, we have a range of Swedish books now too.. You will find us on Google Maps. There is a charge of 1 Euro per book, or 50c if you bring one in to swap. All the proceeds will go to Caldas da Rainha Bombeiros.

I was waiting for the latest news to release this weeks Newsletter. For all our UK readers the British Prime Minister has announced that the EU Referendum will take place on 23 June this year. If you have not yet registered and really do want to be guaranteed that you can stay in Portugal then you need to vote and you need to be registered to do it.

Expectations for further Euro weakness in March as a result of the European Central Bank (ECB) extending their Quantitative Easing (QE) program or cutting interest rates may not be as assured as previously believed. The Euro had strengthened recently as. Converting Euros to Pounds has hit 16 month high. The Euro could test and break some of the more recent highs against the Pound depending of course on what Cameron comes away from Summit with. Whilst it is not guaranteed there does appear a good chance of more stimulus from the ECB in March. Therefore if you need to sell Euros for Pounds we are witnessing some truly excellent levels which may not last. Sunshine for all of Portugal this weekend. Temperatures rising each day to around 19deg C on Sunday on the Silver Coast. Clear blue skies will make it feel like spring but don't forget a coat if you will our in the evenings , because when the sun goes down so do the temperatures.
