Opening of the IC9 Tomar to Nazaré (2)

The IC9 from Nazare to Tomar is now fully open (21 May 2012) and there are no tolls so it is a great ic9 ic2way to get to the coast; however there are a few things you need to know to make your journey easier so read on....

It is not a straight road from Nazare to Tomar, you have to drive part of the way on the IC2, which is very confusing as both sections of the new road have been designated IC9.

Lisbon Airport Metro Station Opens

17 July 2012, Lisbon's new Metro Station is open. lisbon metro

This is an extension to the 'red line' and goes to Orient Train Station.

The extension of the red line between Oriente Train Station and the Lisbon Airport  is 3326 meters long and has three new stations. It is estimated that around 400,000 passagers each year. The new stations are at Moscavide, Encarnação and Aeroporto.

Portugal Prepares for Aviation Privatisation

 

Financial advisors have now been appointed to oversee the privatisation of much of Portugal’s aviation industry, following pressure placed upon the government to begin the privatisation process.

Both TAP and Aeroportos de Portugal (ANA) are expected to see privatisation before the end of 2012. TAP serves as the Portuguese flagship airline, while the ANA management group oversees many of Portugal’s airports, including Lisbon-Portela which acts as a base of operations for TAP. It is hoped that flights to Faro, Lisbon-Portela, Santa Maria (Azores) and Portugal’s other airports will be unaffected during the changeover and flight schedules from airlines servicing the airports will remain unchanged, although this could change as improvements are made to air services in the years following privatisation.
