Remeberance Day is celebrated in a number of places throughout Portugal.

The British Historical Society of Portugal have been meeting for a number of year at the grave of Colonel George Lakes in Columbeira near Obidos. In 2015 there will also be a bugler from the Portuguese Army to play The Last Post.
The celebration takes place at 11am on 11th of November each year. You can meet in the village at the bottom of the hill by the big tree in Zambujeira dos Carros around 10h40 then drive up the hill together to the cross which marks the grave.
From the A8 heading south leave the motorway at junction 12 signpost Bombarral North. At T junction turn right, in half km turn left signpost Baracais after passing the village continue on to Zambujeira and at the main road T junction in the village turn right and the big tree is in the middle of the road in 300m.
From Rolico direction pass through Columbeira and up the pass to a T junction, turn left signpost to Bombarral and in half a km turn left signpost to Col Lakes Grave at the top of the road the big tree is in front of you.
Lunch after the commemoration
If anyone wants to join the members of the Historical Society and other attendees afterwards then there is lunch at a cost of 14 Euros.
