We have a very unique climate here, we can grow almost anything as we are in between the mediterranean and Central European climates.

The climate in Central Portugal, of course, very different from Northern Europe but it is also very different from The Algarve or Spain. hedge1b

If you live here in Central Portugal you will know that the winters are much colder and wetter than further south and the summers can be even hotter if you are inland.

If you live on the Atlantic, West Coast of Central Portugal, also know as the Silver Coast, you get the cooling sea breezes in the summer and dense fog in winter.

We want your experiences of growing things here in Central Portugal so that we can set up an extensive reference source for information about Gardening in Central Portugal.

Search Veg Garden in tags, you will find Jackie McAvoy's  monthly advice for the veg patch from her experience of gardening in the Coimbra district, and we have articles about Sustainable gardening too.

Feel free to contact us if you have anything you would like to know about or add, so that we can build up an extensive reference source for information about gardening in Central Portugal.
